Spooky reads recommendations

What better books to read during the start of spooky season than to share some spooky/creepy reads with you.

The Darkdeep by Ally Condie and Brendan Reichs
Creepy and atmospheric I couldn’t think of a more perfect time to read this. This is also a middle grade so if you’re not a fan of full on spooky this is perfect

The Babysitters Coven by Kate Williams
This has Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes but with witches and a babysitters club. I really enjoyed this book and it’s a perfect pick for a quick and fun read in October.

Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson
Witchcraft and raising the dead, what more can I say? This also has mystery, murders and unexpected friendships.

Malamander by Thomas Taylor
Another middle grade, this is set in a seaside town called Eerie-on-Sea and is the perfect setting with a mysterious, legendary sea monster

City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
Third middle grade on this list, this has ghosts and lots of them. The main character’s best friend is also a ghost. This has so many moments that’ll make you laugh, and it’s so atmospheric and creepy at the same time.

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
Necromancy is all I have to say about this book. This also made me laugh a lot and the main character is snarky as hell and I loved it.

Sleep by C.L. Taylor
This is actually a thriller so not exactly spooky but this had me on the edge of my seat and it’s very creepy.

Hold Back The Tide by Melinda Salisbury
I can’t actually talk about this without spoiling it, but it’s not what you go into this thinking it is and it is definitely spooky and made me jump at a couple of points.

You Let Me In by Lucy Clarke
Another thriller and this one has you on the edge of your seat and trying to guess who is stalking the main character, and chances are you won’t guess who it is.

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
I think this is one of the most atmospheric settings I’ve read in a book. Not only the mystery of the town and the people in it, but the Gray and the Beast as well.
